Nomad Nutrition is partnering with Bush Babes & Bros Trail Running Clinic for the upcoming Slay the Dragon, Soup 2 Nutz Duathlon, and Freaky Creeky 50 race events.

We have exciting news to share, and you may have heard about this on social media first! Please welcome Dawna Jodoin, who has joined us as Nomad Nutrition's athlete and ambassador!

    About Dawna

With 20+ years of experience in ultra running and trail running, Dawna is also a certified trainer and running coach with the Bush Babes and Bro's Trail Running Clinics in Vernon, British Columbia.

    The Health Scare

As an experience ultra runner, Dawna is always on the lookout and keeps up with her health and diet to reach her competition goals. However, an unfortunate nutrition deficient accident during a stage race in Europe resulted in emergency hospital care for three days after she made her way back home to Canada.

The health scare was unexpected and was nothing like she had experienced before. Since then, it was a wake-up call to no longer compromise with the gluten options available at races, especially as an athlete with celiac disease.

Dawna must carefully consider and calculate her body's nutritional needs for race preparation and the competition. This meant that Dawna had to put in more work to prepare and bring her homemade gluten-free food to races, as not all event organizers can guarantee the refreshments and snacks at the aid stations are a 100% gluten-free and free from cross-contamination.

Search for Quality Nutrition and Finding Nomad

With the added stress of food prep and training for competitions back-to-back, Dawna shared,
"This had me searching, I couldn't do another large event without proper GF nutrition."
After many food trials and taste tests, Dawna chanced upon Nomad Nutrition at her local outdoor sports store, and decided to give us a go! Since then, Dawna shared with us that she has found it very helpful for her trail clinic and practices. She also shared our wholesome Nomad Nutrition meals with her fellow runners and coaches at the Bush Babe and Bro's Trail Running Clinics.

Four months after the health scare in Europe, Dawna was prepared to take on the next challenge, a 100 mile self-supported race in Patagonia mountain ranges of Argentina. This time, Dawna packed and brought along Nomad Nutrition for her race.
    Dawna said,
"Not only did your food fuel my body, I felt great and finished the event [as the] 4th woman, felt great, no sickness, no autoimmune flare up."

    How amazing is that?

We're so proud of Dawna’s accomplishments throughout her ultrarunning journey, and we’re humbled to be part of the ride and adventures! We can't say enough about how inspiring Dawna is in her field, and we're lucky to have her as an ambassador for Nomad Nutrition. Keep going, Dawna! She made her accomplishments look easy, but let's face it, she's incredibly strong and fit, and we know she'll continue to inspire all of us in our journeys!
